RicW 67
Just had a quick google. Total population of deer in the UK is 1,545,000. And yes, 350,000 are culled per annum but populations are still growing. Have a look at the wildlifeextra site. I'm sure someone more computer literate then I can put up a link. Ric Edited to add it's bullshit about "mostly with shotguns." Apart fron owt else it's illegal except with solid slugs or SSG for humane dispatch. aaronpigeonplucker 32
Read more! underneath it says: "while in glasgow the animals are being illegaly poached with packs of dogs or air rifles" they have changed the shotgun mistake but the air rifle one is even worse! bob.243 9,854
Yet another newspaper we can't use as toilet roll. Because it's already full of shit!
RicW 67
I don't intend to get too involved here, but yes Aaron I take your point. The simple fact is that in a heavily farmed country like Britain deer are pests. They need to be controlled and the best and most humane way to do that is by shooting with CF rifles. If the honey buggers don't like it let them come up with a better alternative. Poison? Deer in the UK have no natural predators and if we "leave it to Nature" we're gonna lose a lot of crops. I'd suggest a reality check but the antis have lost all touch with reality. Ric
SHOTGUNSNIPER 47
Here is an opportunity view hunting as a viable method of controlling these deer. Also a chance to show the authorities and the general public how this same problem is handled in America. When our deer populations get out of control in urban areas the best method of control is depredation hunt's.Extra permitts are issued for free and some of the hunters donate their venison to food kitchens to feed the poor and homeless. The statistics to support this are available from several sources I am shure. When this occurs in urban areas the use of archery equipment is the safest weapon to use. This is a chance for you UK hunters to introduce archery hunting. I see this as a chance to gain some ground on the fight. Stop whining about being persecuted and fight back. This is just another opportunity to put hunting in a good light. It is not about hunting! It is not about guns! It is not about dogs! It is not about ferrets! IT IS ABOUT CONTROLLING YOU AND MAKING YOU THINK YOU HAVE NO GOD GIVEN RIGHTS BY MAKING UP MORE RIDICULOUS LAWS! :doh:SGS
tsteve9999 456
I'd be interested how much Mr Watson, the head of the "deer initiative" is earning from this government funded (e.g taxpayer) charity. And according to my crappy maths, 74,000 accidents a year works out at around 200 or so a day. Maybe the "deer initiative" need to exagerate a bit to justify itself??
