Malt 379
The sad thing is that this is not an isolated incident, yet people will still fall for the adverts and donate to them by the thousand.. Edited March 2, 2010 by maltenby
MuttleMcTuttle 21
Typical... very sad about the dog A couple of letters slagging off the RSPCA in the local paper last week... it seems they have little interest in injured wildlife, (in one case suggesting that the people left an injured owl sitting in a frozen puddle all night, luckily a local vet thought otherwise) I don't know what they do with all the money they raise, but little of it seems to go towards actually caring for animals in distress. unlacedgecko 1,467
i was out snaring rabbits on my local permission a few months ago. the field borders one with a foot path through it. just as i placed the last snare i was approached by an RSPCA officer/inspector/bod. she asked me if i knew the area as a member of the public had reported a calf stuck in the river mud. the fields which surround the river are rough grazing for beef cattle. these cattle are bullocks, about 16-18months old and nearly as tts as me. no way anyone could confuse one of them for a calf. i told her this, but she said that she had to check it out. i ended up walking around with her, showing her the fields and the large, obviously not calf, beef cattle. chatting away she tells me that the bods pay has been cut from £11,000 to £10,000 this financial year. and it is the 3rd pay cut in a row. the RSPCA are also reducing the number of bods by 10% (good news, less busy bodies). f*ck nkows where all these thousands go. i reckon most of it is poured into private prosecutions of members of the public, with a large amount creamed off and sitting in an offshore bank account for the top man. just remember, they are a charity with no legal powers. if they come knocking on your door, dont let them in, and never under any circumstances sign over an animal to their care! i would encourage everyone to visit the following website; http://the-shg.org/selfhelp.html set up specifically to help farmers pet owners and others experiencing problems with the RSPCA. cheers Ug
