50grn SPSX

Recommended Posts

Looking through U tube yesterday , found a guy who had clips of reloading and testing the 50Gn SPSX bullet developed for the hornet, only using 12.2Grn of lil-gun powder and is getting 2700ft/sec & and very good accuracy down range. Any of you hornet cal reloaders heard of these heads, used them or know where to get some to try

Cheers

PS the guy on the tube was Weazel66 ( i think ) :icon_redface:

i didnt think a hornet could shoot 50 grain ammo because of the twist rate ? if it can shoot 50 grain ammo then i bet that will take off over here.

Yes Jamie, My ruger has a 1:14 twist , shoots 50gn V max ok, not rure what speed they are doing :icon_redface: The clips shown on u tube show this spsx bullet is designed for use in the hornet and doing 2700 ft/sec with only 12.2gn of powder, as you say , would be good to try.. :whistling:

yeah mate youre right hornady make them, the spsx stands for softpoint super explosive theyre basically a softpoint varmint bullet that expand rapidly on impact. i was once mistakenly sold 55 grain 223's as ordinary softpoints to be used for roe by my local dealer, carcus damage was terrible so stopped using them on deer but they were mustard on charlie, about the same result as vmax.
