Selling a firearm

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm in the process of trying to buy a Tikka 223 off a guy local to me, I thought we were on the road to a deal until I had a call from him saying that he couldn't find his FAC ticket, he then asked if he needed it to sell me the gun, I would assume he would just need the ticket number from his FEO which I assume he could get via a phone call, am I right? I've never sold or bought a firearm unless its via a shop so unsure of the process. Thanks. DAVE

yes he does

he needs to fill in on your ticket......the details of the gun ( as per ticket) with his ticket number etc.

he will also need to write to his local FEO (within 7 days by rec del) saying he has sold the gun to you also supplying your details.

the gun needs to be tracked from ticket to ticket....so everyone knows where it is.

NO TICKET NO SALE / PURCHASE imo

cheers

We had a thread like this recently, where the seller only had a photocopy of his FAC. Massive consensus was don't even think about it. Purchase of an unregistered firearm will certainly cost you your FAC forever, and could get you banged up. I mean come on! He can't find his FAC? Where has he been buying ammo - without his FAC? Tell him that if and when he finds his FAC you will go into the deal, and NOT before.
