Just out of interest? what in your mind would make the perfect working terrier,be hounest. And your preferable type. This should be interesting. This was mainly amed at ground working dogs. Not ratting or rabbiting but that has its own storys please tell. I already have an epectation of what i consider a good working terrier and its horses for courses. Be it a bail specialist wood piles or soil. Baying dogs or digging dogs there is an exceptable level for everyone. As i say just out of interest

It is horses for courses ,and different tools for different jobs ect ,quarry and country hunting in would have a bearing on it as well in my opinion but for me and the quarry i like a good dog should have an excellent nose be of sound temperment, keep the quarry in place breathing the same air and not standing of ,keep the quarry busy if it tried to pass or dig on .jmho

A terrier of mine must be able to hunt and find its earths, and inevitably the quarry inside them.

It must mark strong to ground and be broken to livestock.

It must stay with its quarry untill it shifts it or is dug to.

It must be sensible and at the same time not give its quarry too much respect.

It must work both large quarry.

Anything else is a bonus, anything less is not worth holding on to or breeding off.

Cheers FTB

My preferance is a terrier that goes to ground, finds quick, takes control n bosses its quarry about, stays until dug.. Type preferance would be of good size 12-15' in height and about 15-18lb weight.. Temperament preferance would be laid back, confident, good wit people n other dogs.. I found the best breed of dog thats suits me is the patterdale..

To my mind every dog has its faults no matter how good it is no such thing as the perfect dog , im more than happy with what i have but its all about different peoples standards at the end of the day ,

I can vouch for Tetley, definately the 1st dog I would have out of your kennel, just shame about the owner :tongue2:
