longdog13 36
Well peeps, had a day out on some of my permission with Hawkhigh off of here, we met up at about eightish and got to the permission about ten mins late, starting on some very small and unlikely warrens we soon netted three, within the first hour , a good sign me thinks Moving over to a particularly sandy section we get another two, should have been three but for some well placed fallen leaves covering an unseen hole, of course, the one hole the rabbit wanted to use I must add these warrens have not been worked before so it was a steep learning curve Then for a wee break to water the ferrets, on the way back to the cars the landowner drove by and insisted that we 'DO THE BIT IN THE MIDDLE', now, the bit in the middle as he put it was a massive 200yrd plus bank, no, Hill that was liberally planted with all manner of triffids intent on blinding whom ever dare enter their domain So on with the task in hand , after starting in the middle and working away from each other we set pretty much 100 nets the only way to attempt this was to start at one end and slowly work our way accross, the visability was about 10ft, so alot relied on hearing the bolting rabbits on the fallen leaves. we were using two jill, Hawkhighs pew and my bew, these jills have proved themselvs time and again in difficult places, and were the right choice as all readings on the mk3 were between 12-16ft or more so no digging feasible. The action was fast with bolters moving like rockets, we got a further 9 rabbits here with the ferrets working in magnificent style, and i'm pleased to report, no young were encountered and not a single lay up or dig all day Only one pic unfortunately so here it is, Thanks for reading guys and gals 1 Quote Link to post
