Pheasants that have been reared and to some extent wild ones which are drawn into the feeders are fed on corn which contains medicine this medicine could be causing the ferrets digestive problems. I'm not saying it is the cause but it is food for thought if you excuse the pun.

Most strange! Surely though, saying pheasent is 'Rich' is as subjective as saying rabbits are 'Gamey' ?

Personally, I've never fed a ferret pheasent, nor know anyone who has. (Bugger wasting pheaents on ferrets! )

Were these fresh dead birds, or 'Well Hung', like me ?

(Oh; OK. The only thing 'Well Hung' about me is the smell! ..... Now, where's that Trill got to?)

Personally i give the ferrets the pheasants and eat the rabbits and pigeons meself, i think longtails are horrible. The keeper here thinks im daft with what i feed my ferrets saying i should take it the butchers and swap it for steak. Don't like steak either though :D

I've fed pheasant before with no noticeable problems. I find that they particularly like the neck meat!

I also give my ferrets fresh quail occasionaly too, I think its a similar "richness".

(Edited to add that the quail I feed is bred in captivity as hawk food.)
