sanibel686 29
Thank you for all the PM's and interest in the gun it is now sold pending. This is an english hammer gun with 30" brls choked 1/4 and full. The brls are recently professionally reblued, they have a couple of very small pits in otherwise faultles bores with no scoring or other signs of wear and very useable being nitro proofed (at 2 1/2") and lockup is tight. Length of pull is 14 1/4" to front trigger. The engravings of the dog & pheasants are very nice & the camera doesn't do them justice. The forend has a horn tip. I would like to trade for a 20g or 28g sbs or a 20g semi auto (not Turkish please) or even an Alan Woood small skinner. There is no maker name, as was quite common at the time. paulus 26
i would say it was a FRED WILLIAMS of birmingham looking at the stock and fore stock release catch.
sanibel686 29
i would say it was a FRED WILLIAMS of birmingham looking at the stock and fore stock release catch. Yes I've seen a few photos of Fred Williams guns identical to this. I think what used to happen back in the old days was a number of the "named" manufacturers used to buy in guns "in the white" engrave their own names on them and charge more for them as a result. I suppose not much has changed when you pay a lot more for a Sabbati if it's been badged as a Browning Citori or McNab Highlander!!
