shaun dee 7
how long dose her "heat" go on for? Quote Link to post
NOOK/ANNA 96
You can get a injection to postpone her heat from a good vet. Greyhound trainers usually get their bitches done to keep them racing all year round. But it's usually advised to let them have there first break before anything like this. atb Quote Link to post
Guest jt750
Why have you got a dog when you clearly know very little about them ? Quote Link to post
skycat 6,174
Why have you got a dog when you clearly know very little about them ? We all have to start learning somewhere: at least he has the sense to ask, unlike some who go blindly on year after year learning FA. Only knock ignorance when that person thinks they know it all and are too stupid/arrogant to ask! YOu can use a variety of things to stop a bitch coming in season: see a Greyhound vet, not a pet vet as they might overdose the bitch if you use Delvesteron, which is testosterone, but this isn't licensed for bitches and can damage the liver if used over a long period of time. The old fashioned methods which made the bitch's body think it was pregnant aren't any good either as muscle tone decreases. There is another injection which I only heard of recently, and I can't remember the name off hand, which is supposed to be better. Personally I wouldn't jab a bitch to stop her coming in season: although it is annoying its a natural process: I used to do it and didn't have any problems with Delvesteron, but I never kept a bitch on it for more than a few months in the winter, and its never a good idea if you intend to breed from the bitch at a later date. boyo 1,398
i have used the pill for the last 3 years one a day in their food and bombproof never comes in season 'the pill is same as women use but get prescription from your vet all good greyhound vets keep them in stock hope this helps and jt70 glad you wasnt about with your comments when i was starting out with dogs many years ago. Guest jt750
Sorry i forgot in this day and age there is no information about dogs anywhere so you have to get one to learn as you go along ...get real do some research before you get a dog its not like there's nothing out there FFS this is the internet and half hour spent on doing research before he's bought the dog might have helped ..or not ..OH and btw this is a forum and if the person asking is wise enough to sign up and post then they wise enough to have done some leg work before they got a dog ..oh and brianL84 my dogs in sh1t state like all the others i've kept ...skinny, worm ridden , skins a bit red and going bald in places ..but hey what do i care Quote Link to post

No what i'm saying is anybody who gets a dog should find out basic care before getting a dog...Oh and why did you get a dog and a bitch and kennel them together ? or did you not think of any problems that might arise Quote Link to post
