BigGameHunter 0
Hello, my name is Cosmin, I'm from Romania and I'm own a HuntShop and a ammo deposit, since January 2010 my company is ELEYHAWK'S Distributor for Romania. I bought from them the first order a full truck of HighFlyer 32g nr.4, nr.3 Maximum 34g nr.BB, nr.1 and Olympic Trap 28g nr.7 1/2 500.000 pieces. I started the distribution of the cartridges around 20.01.2010 at clients in all the country and this week I received some complains from 3 , 4 clients regarding the quality of the cartridges, they told me that they opened some pieces from a box and weighted the lead charge and on the 34g nr.BB they found 31g and 30g. My position to them was that this is impossible because ELEYHAWK are high quality cartridges manufacturer. after this calls, Friday a run some tests myself, I opened all the cartridges from a box of 25 an UNBELIVEBLE I didn't find even 2 pieces to have the same weight of the charge and huge differences for exemple : 34 g Nr.1 ELEY MAXIMUM from 25 pieces the lowest charge was 30,1 g !!!!!!!!!! and the highest was 33,2 g 32 g Nr.3 ELEY HIGHFLYER from 25 pieces the lowest charge was 28,2 g !!!!!!!!!! and the highest was 31,6 g THIS IS A VERY BAD SITUATION because in a box of 25 you know you have 34g loads but in reality you have like 10 between 30g and 31g 10 between 31g and 33g and the rest from 33 to 33,6 I can't understand how is this possible for a brand like ELEYHAWK. can you please tell me if you ever have that problem with ELEY ammo ?? I wrote them an email on Friday but no answer yet so I don't know their position. Best regards, Cosmin Quote Link to post

SportingShooter 0
Not sure on the CIP regulations but can't say I'm greatly surprised at your situation. Haven't bought Eley's for a very long time, never been a brilliant shell in my experience compared to others I've tried. Good luck trying to send them back, you'll need it. Quote Link to post
Deker 3,491
I'm not good enough to notice the difference, I suspect some maybe...I just sort of accepted historically that none were right and each manufacturer is as bad as the other!!! If someone knows better can you advise whose cartridges are consistantly right! Cheers Quote Link to post

Cheers Deker, you are right regarding that maybe all the cartridges are not consistantly right, but in my situation I think the problem is very serious because the differences are HUGE. when I planed to import ELEY to Romania I studied them and their experience in manufacturing ammo, been to their offices in Birmingham and discuss with them and they told me they are manufacturing the best ammo on the market "For over 180 years, the name of Eley has been at the forefront of quality and innovation in the world of shotgun ammunition. From the beginning of production in 1828, Eley cartridges have earned a worldwide reputation amongst discerning shooters for being of the highest quality and reliability." from eley site that s way I choose them and I start promote their products in my country (till now ELEY products never been in Romania market) but with this feed back from the customers the image of ELEY is ruined here it's not easy to promote a new product on the market when we have here B&P, CHEDDITE, ROTTWEIL, S&B, FIOCCHI, RC importers and with a start like this it's imposible Thanks Quote Link to post
mattydski 560
I find it strange that anyone has ever weighed the load from a shotgun cartridge, as it has never occurred to me to dismantle one and weigh the contents...I stick them in a gun and pull the trigger. If I miss............i put it down to me But, if the loads are as different as yo speak, then it is a very poor show....but as SS pointed out...Not a surprise Quote Link to post
