that old line springs to mind "if it aint broke dont fix it"i had a hmr for 2yrs only cleaned it once and that was when it tried to go swimming in a stream i tried to cross while out lamping.the accuracy dropped right off until i had put about 20 rounds through it.i reckon i used 1200 rounds in the gun while i had it and it never lost out when uncleaned

It's the old chestnut..to clean or not to clean, frankly I reckon it is a no brainer, the HMR needs cleaning...others don't agree..up to them!!!

The simple reason why your gun is all over the place (assuming everything is back together correctly and tight) is that you have not cleaned it thoroughly.

You have agitated copper deposits etc without clearing them completely, hence your barrel is currently likely to worse than before you started cleaning it and bullets are being grazed along the barrel/crown!

When the barrel/crown etc is clean it should take 1 or 2 shots at the very most to get back to zero, this is purely to remove any cleaning/oil deposits you may have left in the barrel!!

It will settle when you round off the deposits and lay down more copper, or just go back and give it another thorough clean!

ATB!!
