Got a 5-month BedWhipp x Pointer, who's a real spark. My question is how and when should I start him on rabbiting (mooching or lamping)? All thoughts welcome....

iVE JUST STARTED MINE PROPERLY LAST MONTH HE 9 MONTH NOW , A TOOK EM OUT WHEN HE WAS ABOUT 6 MONTH AND HE DIDNT HAVE A CLUE THEN HE JUST STARTED CATCHIN THEM PRETTY EASY NOW

Depends what your going to do with him bud, with the nose in him from the pointer i'd start him lamping,but thats me, because he could so easy get used to putting the head down and getting on with it himself during the day and its a hard habit to break, start him on the lamp and he'll get used to coming back after the chase,Any particular reason you went for the pointer cross,,

Thanks for info - I ended up with the hound having known the parents, gone to see the litter and the mrs. fell for the leggiest pup!!!
