A collie cross will do you well, get half cross or 3/4 collie in it. Day time rabbits is as much about hunting them up as anything else. Give it time and let it learn its own way of going about it and bingo you will have a dynamite dog. Collies have a very strong hunting and stlaking instinct, they tend to think for themselves.

 

Hancock has puupies that will make the grade, regardless of what you hear on here about him. It is more the way he goes about it.

 

He has a red stud dog which is a reverse 3/4 bred which throws good pups.

 

If not get a reverse 3/4 (3/4 collie 1/4 greyhound), ask for one that has a good amount of Bearded Collie in its blood. The border ones can be a bit manic but it is down to you what sort of dog you are after.

 

A Collie cross IS a dog for life, they really do not thive being chopped and changed. They are worth the effort, esp if you give them some room to develop their hunting instinct.

I just got a pup the sire is a pure whippet and the dam is a first collie X greyhound!

 

According to the breeder the dam has picked up 2 hares out of 3 runs so if there quick enough for hares can't see them being to slow for rabbits.

 

I hope there quick enpugh and nearly everyone Ive spoke to close to my area say their brilliant dog!

 

But I have been told its alot to do with how much work you put in with your dog.

was they advertised in countrymans weekly last week

some of the best rabbiting dogs i had were a mixture of collie greyhound and top quality racing grew ,ive been out many a time and had a large bag full , of rabbits because of that type of dog, and they could do a little bit more than catch a coney heading for cover ,ive saw a few beddie crosses one yesterday the local pester has one ,saw it work it yapped acted like a terreir but i think the guy was to soft on it,it kept going down the rabbit holes etc saw a few beddie greyhounds very usefull pair up near berwick shire a few years back very good dogs on rabbs etc all the best

had abeardie cross from hanckock in the early ninties a good bitch but i put alot of time into the dog , surly their better back yard breeders about who only use top qaulity greyhounds not just any greyhound and dogs that work or tested , not any greyhound does ,saw several litts of collie grehounds and the better the greyhound the better the pups ie open class bitches who are tried and tested in the field a bit , had a few greyhounds and they ran well before i bred a litter of lurchers , surly there good back yard breeders about who can show you lines of dogs etc hanckock would not get my money all the best

whin yes there are good backyard breeders about but thery pup are all gone . so you have to go to someone woh you know thats beed them . when new to dogs you do not know these backyard beeders so you dont know about the pups and if you whant a pup you go on thr net hancocks yousee them , you gets books hancocks. in them ,so maed a few mates on haer now if i whant a pup i will most ly get them off a mate chrees foxman

I went to Hancocks the other day and they reckon so, they say collies will catch rabbits but the prob is i dont swop and change if i buy a dog i am the boss through its whole life and i bury it, so im puzzled as weather to go hancock or look for a beddie x whippet.

As I say i bury my own dogs so i have it for 16yrs or so IT HAS TO BE THE RIGHT DOG.,

ive looked at a few in admag and dont know weather to go whippet x beddie or whippet x greyhound.

Daytime rabbits is my thing

some say collie x grey first cross will do it some say you need 3/4 grey
