JohnGalway 1,043
The ones which lay maggots in sheep. Is there a way of trapping/catching/killing/reducing their numbers? OK, I'll give ye five minutes for the laughing to die off. 1... 2... 3... 4... 5... Done? OK I know it's a drop in the ocean, I do, really, I've not gone bonkers. (Well, not any more bonkers). Why? Along the length of my farm is a wood with a stream at the bottom. It's a Mecca for the little b*****ds. Any animal that has even the slightest chance of attracting them, will, for 100% certain, in large numbers. Yes, I know, prevention is better than cure, and this is no cure. Rest assured the prevention bit is up to speed This is more about a bit of personal satisfaction in knocking off as many of the little b*****ds as possible. I know it's off the wall and bizarre, but, what the hell Over to the forum for any suggestions Straight jacket brigade need not apply ATB, John Quote Link to post

JohnGalway 1,043
Hi Trapperman, Yeah, we dip the sheep and also use pour on's. It does a good enough job. Then there are any dirty ones, can happen when the ewes are let from the pre lambing area into the kept grass for better milk production, they just get soft behind. Easy enough job to shear around the tail then. I've mostly blackface, and I'll have a few cheviot blackface cross this year too. We'd a really humid wet summer last year and there was a high incidence of fly strike despite controls, even up in the hills where you wouldn't normally expect it. As I said, it's not really a control question, basically I'd like to knock some snot out of the little b*****ds, for old times sake Quote Link to post
trapperman 474
right i`ve got an idea, shear a sheep then make a dumby sheep and put the fleese on it spray it with ficam w and stand it just away from the stream Quote Link to post
