saw a mink kill one of my hens tonight. heard hen screeming and rushed down with torch to see the mink trying to drag the hen into one of the artifical rabbit warrens. whats the best way to sort out this problem? Ive lost a few rabbits to mixi and hens to charlie so I cant afford to let the mink get their way. I have a mink trap, what bait would be best? or is there an alternative method of catching them??? advice appreciated.

One thing i've seen work is to stick a length of tubeing into the ground at a bit of an angle. The tube must be smooth, blocked at one end and 3 or so feet long. Chuck a dead fish down the tube and when the mink comes a long, it dives down the tube to get to the bait and then can't come back up because the tube is too steep and smooth.

Then you shoot it.

Ore use a cage trap baited with fish or meat.

or......... get in the professionals!

orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr sit and wait with a 12g.

Hope you get him!

O yer - could use fens and a tunnel as well. (Not sure if this is legal but someone will correct me soon if not)
