Guest Haggler
just wondering what people think of the quilty of todays working terrier compared 2 20 years ago Many true terriermen of today would probably tell you they were born 20, 30 even 50 years to late. They are the ones who have the same quality working terriers of their counterparts from the past. The rest of us have just gotten fatter and softer and have once a weekers or even once a monthers in the kennels. Haggler Quote Link to post
Kye 77
I think many terrier lads wish they lived back in the early 1900's, not because of the quality of the terrier, but because of the quarry available, and the more flexiable laws that enabled the use of terriers for game... IMO, yes some breeds have suffered, some beyond repair...BUT...when you read old books, there is often talk of doubling terriers up, having more than two down a earth even...Lucas talks about 12 at one time!..lol. I think there are lines of terrier out there today that could hold there own with ANY line/type/breed back in them days, if not better!.. Like with the match dogs...how many dogs back in the day could do 8 min runs, and honestly take 4/4 etc?...not many i bet!?.. But like in so many walks in life, you will struggle to get the best, it dont come easy, but when you do it well worth the wait!.. Kye,.. Quote Link to post
