Crewkerne Lurcher & Terrier Show

Recommended Posts

Hi there all, start of the show season drawing near and I am preparing the above show for its third year. I know quite a few members of Hunting Life attend and I wanted to give you all a chance to put foward any ideas to change/improve my show. I can not promise to incorporate all ideas, but I want to keep the show fresh and to grow so that this year we have even more people through the gate (first year we had 102 cars and last year 80) so please let me have your thoughts.

I am considering two ideas at the moment: 1: Camping, i have permission to camp on the field this year and 2: to have a band on the Saturday night in the little pub up the road, for a small ticket fee, you can come in for music and something like Sausage and Chips in a basket.

Look forward to the idea

Hi Sarah,

Camping would be good,a whippet show and whippet coursing for ped whippets only.

Pat and all the Somerset Lurchers and 2 little whippets.

have a car boot and loads of stalls selling fake sunglasses double glazing and kitchens, rip off burger stalls and beer tents charge fortune to get in, and have the car park half a mile away .... seems to work for most game fairs thumbs.gifthumbs.gif

Now now no need to be sarcastic, this is a grass roots show and not a game fair, you will be pleased to know that the rings have ringside parking, the racing events are next to the showing field and I believe the burger van was modestly priced last year. He has also agreed to provide a hog roast this year, so will warn him that prices have to be "fair". I try to position the toilet as close as I can but it depends on the weather.

I can say though that there will be camping this year (small fee payable) and possibly, some racing on the Saturday later afternoon. Unfortunately, car boot sale may be a new idea added this year as you would not believen how many people have put this forward to me!!

Hope to see you there!!

Thanks

Hi there big boy, would love to see some new faces this year, as i said want to keep it small but improve year on year. This year the show is on Easter Sunday again, 4 April 2010. The post code is TA18 8RH.

Hope to be able to post some more information about the additional events this year soon. BUT can say that we will be have some racing on Saturday afternoon for those camping and locals who want to "warm their dogs up" before Sunday. I am hopeful that the pub up the road will be having a band on the Saturday night and for a pre-purchased ticket you can come along listen to some music and have a basket meal in the price of a ticket - once I have confirmation I will let you all know
