good point, the exsposure setting make the main difference, but the image quolity is similar ish...

mine was on 290mm kays was on 250mm i think,

all zooms have better spots, some at the smaller end some the mid etc..

so any more for any more, just out of intrest?

No, because you'd cry if you saw the image quality from a 5D and a nice lump of L glass ;)

Start saving, boy...

Oh, btw, it's not just the exposure settings that make a difference, but the amount of haze in the air, the time of year, the height of the moon, the tripod used (or not), the ambient light... so many factors to consider.

No.

You already know what the difference is...

What you now have to learn is how to wring the best out of the kit you have... A lens costing under a hundred quid is never going to deliver the same result as one costing ten time more. Your ambitions must be realistic - photographing badgers by the light of the silvery moon, and getting an image that will make people go "WOW!", is an unrealistic concept for all but the most skilled specialist photographers with thousands of pounds worth of kit. Even they have been suspected of "cheating" (I'm thinking of a certain jumping wolf pic...) So, don't expect too much & set yourself goals which are achievable.

Your moon shots are fine, get over it and try taking some photos in daylight for a change.
