Now...I recon he is a reasonable bloke, and I get on with him OK, it's a long story as I am in Reading and come under Thames Valley!!! But others may (probably will) have a different opinion depending on their individual experiences with him! Quote Link to post

I hear what you say and unfortunately they do have a bit of clout...but my FEO is a complete idiot, I have to explain the law to him commonly and I have to mentor/send letters in for all and sundry who even want a .22lr these days because the guy doesn't have the balls to say yes or no. His predecessor who did the job 20+ years, and new my Dad on first name terms, as well as me, was sensible and sound....and he was police..this guy is civilian!! He is an idiot and he knows that's what I think of him, (let me enlarge on this and say this is not just my view, I know of at least 5 other people he deals with and they all share a very similar opinion of the man) it is outrageous that many should feel they have to cower from such fools because they have clout.....I have been over my mans head to his bosses because he is such a lazy idiot, and he knows it, certainly not the ideal situation but when you get one this bad it has to be done! BUT.... you do need to be VERY sure of yourself!!! Quote Link to post

I'm sure they do, but if the above mentioned chap was a shooter he would know that a 25-06 for example is a vermin calibre......yet i wasn't allowed to shoot foxes with mine till it was explained that the round was designed for shooting ground vermin....foxes etc!!! Just one of several instances where he showed how little he knew anything about firearms thats not on his script! I know the former gloucestershire licencing guy personally and he is exteremely knowledgeable about a variety of different firearms. Sounds like the swindon chap may be a bit better then Deker Quote Link to post
