DRP 3
Hello All and Merry Christmas! I have a question that I'm hoping can get answered. When people talk about bushing for rabbits, I have a great bushing dog etc. What does this involve and how does it work? This may seem like a stupid question but its got me honestly confused From what I understand, the bushing dog enters a bush and flushes out rabbits (thats what I'm interested in) for the lurcher or to be shot. I don't quite understand how this happens! I've experienced having a dog or two on one side of a hedge (not actual bushes, just a thin hedge), rabbit has been scared through the hedge and the other dog on the other side has caught it. But to me the term 'bushing' brings to mind images of dogs going into deep undergrowth to flush out quarry. This is where I'm confused, because all rabbits is see (this is during the day) dart into the bushes when they see a dog and in the bushes is where their burrows are. So how on earth does a springer spaniel for example go into the bushes to flush out the rabbit as the rabbit is already in its burrow by the time a dog is anywhere near the undergrowth. I'm sure this seems a stupid question to many but it really has got me confused. This has puzzled me for a while. Thanks in advance. DRP Quote Link to post
luke. 9
Hello mate, You dont have to flush rabbits out mate, nearly all game will lie up in a hedge now and again. Up were i am from there are lots of clusters of winey bushes were alot a bunnies lie up all day long but they tend to run from bush to bush so a course is unlikely, ATB. Luke. Quote Link to post

DRP 3
Cheers Lads! Been thinking about getting a terrier or two for sometime now. Just need to make up my mind wether Patterdale or Plummer. I was interested in the Patt for a while, still am, but thinking it may be too hard for what I want. I'm NOT interested in killing foxes so now I'm leaning towards the Plummer. Cheers Quote Link to post
