Theres a nack to using macro. I would say these pictures are better than the macro on those cameras you have. I do have quite a collection of cameras.

Yet these pictures are taken with a mobile phone......... You couldnt get any better. Tryed with everything.. Its all lighting and positioning...

Nice pics for a phone cam, but not exactly macro...

Kay's coin pic... now that's really close up! The little point and shoot cameras often have an excellent macro setting, it's one of their best features :)

Out of all the cameras i have had i found this canon one to give the best results out off all of them & i would be tempted to simply get the same updated point & shoot if this one gives up the ghost for any real close ups , i just cant get the same results with the dslr , not sure if a macro lens would make any difference , but to be honest i cant see the point if i can get a camera for £ 50 that does the job as good as a £ 500 lens

A macro lens would make a world of difference... However it does need to be a true macro, like the Canon 100mm macro - the zoom lenses with "macro" capability won't focus close enough.

Thats what i am finding with the zoom lens , its just not very good to be honest
