Hi all, used to use an old Canon A1 for pics of dogs and good action photos. I currently also use a Canon Ixus, i think this cost about £200. Its a nice little camera, but i would like something that produces better quality photos like the A1 used to. I am looking to buy a good digital, probably with changeable lenses. I would be looking (when i have saved up enough) to spend around £300-£500.

Any advice etc would be appreciated.

Thanks

I would recommend spending as much as you can afford as you will only regret it otherwise. There are some good packages out there but it really comes down to what feels right in the hand. I recently bought a Canon D500 over a Nikon D90 and it was down to how it handled as they are both good and were both recommended to me.

Jessops and other camera shops will do a good deal over and above the shop prices I got a reduction of £200 when I bought my set up but I still ended up spending £1000 which was my max limit. Lenses, filters, memory card, and bag all cost money as well.

As for a recommendation with your budget I would have to go for a Canon EOS 450D + 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens with FREE Gadget Bag which is £499 in Jessops add a Tamron 70-300mm f4/5.6 DI LD Macro (Canon AF) for £99, then go and haggle you should get close to your budget and you end up with some good kit and be able to take some good photos.

Hope this helps
