witton 6
I know it depends on the breeding but what sort of speed can the average lurcher run? Thanks in advance Good hunting David Quote Link to post

blando 0
What about if the breeding was 1/2 whippet 1/4 saluki 1/4 greyhound millet? Thanks David Im no expert on the speed of differant X's mate but IMO it just boils down to what percentage of greyhound you have in your dog and what size it is... anything under 24in isn't going to be as quick as an athletic 27in dog..and if that X takes a lot of saluki and whippet jeans and just a little greyhound it will still be quick but no where near as quick as a dog with a high % of greyhound.. Millet you sure about that non-ped racing whippets are faster than greys over short distances and they tend to be only 19-23", but im not sure if greys have a faster top speed not sure how it works, anyone know?? samba 534
top class greyhounds are quicker than most dogs even non ped whippets i have been around both 4 years and over 100m on a greyhound track the top greyhound will win some grews are faster than the average greyhounds even over 275m but it just depends on the class of dog Quote Link to post
thurso jack 3
a whippet would be like a small sports car, less weight but a smaller engine, nippy to take off but topping out sooner, whereas a greyhound would be more a perfomance machine, whilst maybe not having the jaw dropping initial take off of a smaller lighter model, once running it would far outstrip it smaller rival on the overall distance due to greater top speed. only my opinion? blando 0
well your talking from expirience so im not going to argue but ive alwase been told whippets are faster, but just dont have the stamina. is it me or are greyhounds getting bigger and bigger? these modern ones cant go round corners lol Quote Link to post
marko 30
my friend has a coursing whippet off laguna lines, takes rabbits all day no probs out of the blocks there isnt anything faster and this dog is very fit out more or less every day however the stamina as said is not the best even in a dog as fit as him my lurcher bitch is 21" and she is medium build i would say she is more or less the same as him over distance when she opens up, however she can run more frequently than him she has beddie/whippet/grey/wheaton.
