Feeding fox

Recommended Posts

This might be a contentious issue but what are people's opinion of feedind fox meat to ferrets?

I ask because as my freezer begins to dwindle, I've been in touch with one or two mates that I haven't seen much over the summer to remind them of my constant need for kill, and was immediately met with "there's a fox in my freezer if you want it?"

I've read about people feeding fox, but does anyone on here have any experience of it? Opinions please!!

In a past life, when I used to dabble in a bit of Taxidermy, I had a mate who'd bring me the odd fox. I'd take the head off, to mount, and he often asked for the back leg 'hams', to feed to his ferrets.

I tried mine on some, but they wouldn't touch it. Personally; Not f***ing surprised! You ever sniffed fox meat? :icon_eek:

No, I don't think freezing will kill mange mites -- well it might kill a few but almost certainly not their eggs. You'd need a freezer capable of temps much lower than a domestic freezer I think.
