pandy 0
nice one lads, i have started feeding him with the milk out of the mothers nipple. iv been squizing it and putting it in a sringe but its hard work and not a lot of milk. is it the vet that only sells the other stuff or can i just go and buy some from somewhere. cheers Quote Link to post
fensaluki 35
I only know of it from the vet mate but if you are getting the pup to feed from a syringe hopefully it should start looking for the teat.Be sure to keep a very close eye on it though fella they can go downhill quickly Quote Link to post

dafydd thomas 13
if the bitch has a large litter then id leave it to nature survival of the fittest and all and besides it will mean more milk for the others, but on the other hand if its a small highly desirable litter then every effort should be made but hey ho thats only what i think gud luck to you either way Quote Link to post

Be careful using a syringe. You could try using a bottle? Quote Link to post

And you need to stimulate the pup to pee and poop - rub its stomach and anal area very gently with damp cotton wool, unless the bitch is doing this. Is the pup in with the rest of the litter - it needs to be warm. Quote Link to post
bullmastiff 615
As much as you can squeeze into the little fella! If you can squirt it from the teat then there must be a lot there so should take a lot of work on the pups part to get milk, try keeping the rest out of the way and putting the teat in it's mouth? Hopefully it will start to suckle. Our Runt was the same and we didn't think he would make it, but we kept moving the others away every few hours so he could feed on his own. Once it started to suckle it just a case of keeping the rest on other teats so it could feed in peace. We had to keep putting him on the teat for about a month on his own when the rest were asleep so he was definatley feeding. It's a shame your not closer, I've got about 5-6kg's of puppy milk powder left from our litter. Good luck with the pup, hope it all turns out ok.
