keeping working dogs inside..

Recommended Posts

lads i got a spaniel, and im getting a whippet pup off a mate, my spaniel when i got him came from a kennel, he was really timid, after a few weeks of being in the house he got mega lively, he isnt uncontrolable now he is doing fairly well now... but im just worried with this pup, that it will become to lively and be ruined.. im thinkng it should be ok as its a pup, i cant have a kennel, we just done have the space in the back garden as its odd shaped..

any of you keep working dogs inside, i do no one guy who has got 6 spaniels all kept inside and they are all timid and not hyper..

I am a big advocate of keeping gundogs in the house. Seems to make for a better overall dog. They seem to listen to instruction better, are easier going , and just all around better behaved.

Keep mine in you know where they are aswel rich

i keep my lurcher dog inside but my gundogs and lurcher pup are outside its a space thing with me and the other half likes havin the big lad inside when im on nites to. but i do think they are more weather resistant when outside. but its poss to have them in the house had my cocker inside until she was old enough to go out she wore a path in the laminate round the room never stopped movin but she th same in the woods hunts great guns you want all dogs to be lively not timid.

I keep my Beddy/whippet & JRT in the house with no problems.

This buggers a bit lively in the house though, as you can see!

PS, that's the wife he's lying by, the same wife who told me that he'd never be allowed on the settee when I first got him as a pup! :whistling::laugh:
