Have a good inspection of the paw between the pads and between the toes, look for any injury or foreign body. Bathe in cool boiled water, trim hair away from any wound, keep clean. If your not confident in diagnosing/treating then take the dog to a vet. Edited to say it could be nettle stings, has the dog been running through nettles today? Thanks for the prompt reply I would use cool boiled water with nothing in it but make sure you dry the feet as best you can. if there is no injury/foreign body probably nettle stings or running on stubble. One of our lurchers gets it, it drives her mad for a good hour or so, she constantly scrapes her feet on the carpet, you know like when they have had a wee and they scratch up the grass, she does that on the carpet to try and itch her feet!
