Halfinch 51
Went out yesterday to a new permission, it is 240 acres of rabbit laden land. . Only problem being a lot of it is in hedgerow Not such a problem in itself but i do enjoy a good dig now and again but the hedgrow makes it nigh on impossible. Anyway, there is also a long nettle cover bank, that is full of holes so we decided to try that, after a lot of stamping and cutting down of nettles, we uncovered the first burrow, sent in the hob and jill and straight away could hear the thumping of the rabbits, next thing, bang, bang, bang 3 in 3 nets one after the other The ferrets still seemed keen and back down they went, but no more rabbits, gave it about 20 mins and out came the locator, got a fix at between 4-5ft, Leave it, they'll come out, another 10 mins and the jill was back but no hob, Ok out with the spade, it was actually the long side of 4ft, but well worth it as the hob was there giving hell to not one but 2 rabbits at a stop end, poor sod had took a bit of a beating but stuck to the task Surprising reall as it was his first time out, he was my vasectomised hob that the vasectamy turned out didn't work Went on to do another couple of holes that went smoothly and ended up with a total of 8 for the day, cant wait for a bit of frost to get the nettles down a bit, looking forward to getting back there.
