Recommended Posts

Are whippets ok at coursen the hare and fox and possible feral cat???? or are they to small and need to be crossed to a bigger breed (or harder breed)to be able to tackel anything bigger than a rabbit? i used to run on ruff ground and prefur a animal with thicker legs(and will do in the near future), just my way of thinking. any views are muchly sort after

mate of mine has a 22 inch whippet, thats took charlie and hares pre ban. This dog is very strong for a whippet and i havnt seen many like it before.

mine 18.5" has taken both but as I live on the fens the hares fly, and the hare catches were few and far between probably better with a cross as I guess its wide and open in Aus

No not all of oz is open, where i go (and live) it's mainly ruff ground( broken ground) and the runns are quick as it's many bushy area's i hunt and the prey is lost buy the dog (out of sight) if not able to keep up and catch it, some places are open ground but most bunny's, foxes and hares stick close to the cover, i've found.

you most probably heard of sooty sam lines, there much more hardier than than other types of whippet imo my mate has a whippet kc sooty sam line 23 inch would do all that so i think it's just finding the right dog ...alb
