Went out this morning with a guest got him in to a nice wee buck about 150 yards couldnt get any closer with him in tow so went for bipod rest. The chap took a look through his ziess 8 x 56 scope and said no chance young man you wil need to get me nearer than that. so we belly crawls closer he coughs and the wee fellas off like a shot. On we go on to the next clearing and sure enough there are three deer out one buck and two does we move closer very slowly at about 80 yards i put the bipod sticks out and dug the legs in. The chap went on to the sticks and started to look at the doe i taps him on the shoulder gently he nearly shit his self :icon_eek: the one on the left i wisperd ok he says and at that i could here the sicks rattling i waited what seemed an age and no shot was fired. Up to him i gose again whats the mater i wisperd (it wont stand still he replys ) by this time i can see he has totaly lost it big time. Can you get me closer he says my reply was realy good this time " how fu cking close do you want "all this time the buck is feeding broad side. We moved on this time im abit miffed as the chap had told me he had shot lots of deer and now i finds out he had only shot two and they were on the deer farm. :icon_redface: We were making our way off the ground [bANNED TEXT] out of the corner of my eye i caught a glimps of a deer with a quick shush i sneeked up to the edge of the small open wood as we peerd round the edge there was nice big buck standing broad side 20yards away infact it was that close i got the camera out . I waited for the shot but nothing the deer stud for the shot at least 5 mins but no shot he was shaking like a leaf so that was it i lost it told him to take up fu cking golf

viz i got a [bANNED TEXT] like that i have seen him knocking shotty shells at 70 yds with a.308 FREE HAND and thats no bullshit we went out one morning a couple of years ago there was a fallow doe no more than 50yds out he could have hit it in the eye  but he rested the rifle on a tree but the gun looked like it had parkinsons so i would not let him take the it took 5 more tips out before he calmed do but now the twat gets loads of bambi :hunter::hunter:

Never been as bad as that but the excitement and anticipation of a first shot can be a little overwhelming at times. I shot my first goose a few munths back and was so excited watching them come in that I had to conciousely calm my self down so I would be able to get the shot of efficiently. I find with quarrey species I have shot loads of like rabbits, squirrels pigeons crowns pheasants etc it is still a buzz but I seam to naturaly regulate breating etc because it is not such a big deal.

Sounds like you had fun and games though. Weirviz are you a pro stalking guide? It is somthing I would like to do a bit of but have never manged to get in it.

No im not a pro stalker dave and must admit that i think it might have taken the shine off stalking if i had went down that road . THE CHAP THIS MORNING BELEIVE IT OR NOT WAS USEING THAT FIRST STALK FOR HIS PART TO STALKING CERT  I had a word with the acredited witness and we agreed to let this chap go off the list  So like you said cramp he must have shot quite well at his DSC one but hey the targets are none moving and also dont look at you with big brown eyes  I have taken quite a few out he was the worst yet. There was one chap i took out he was a nice chap donr as he was told and al that anyway lets cut the story short we had had very few chances and what chances we had he declined as to far it was the last evening and a nice buck came out over one of the large clearfells the buck fed out to about 150 yards from us i said to the old fella lets do this one and get home :search: any way he went down the road of its to far can we go round and it was imposible. So i resorted to cheating i told him to lie down on the bank and just practice. By that i ment pull the trigger while the safty was one and see if you can keep the crosshair on the beast all the time so a bit of time went by and i said how do you feel he said im ok but im not shooting the deer out to that distance "lets have a look at what your seeing i said and lay down at the rifle and slipped the safty off i said to him see if you can keep the cross hair on him again and after that if your not happy we will head away. well he seemed over the moon by this lay down and "BOOM" the gun ecoed over the clearing ive never seen an old fella jump away from a gun so fast :icon_eek: what a face he had on him. Any way great shot through the front shoulder the beast dropped on the spot and i here that chap is knocking the deer over in his own area for fun ;)

I know what you mean viz when you describe the gun rattling on the sticks

heard it myself off some of the guys i took out..

We were standing behind two low hedge`s and a group of 8 young Staggies were standing there looking at us 80 yards away. I said take the one far left i put the sticks up for him and he refused

I can only shoot of a bipod he says  anyhow i walked him around and got me wonga off him for a mornings stalking :D

Another time a guy like your man said he wont keep still.. The staggie was 70 yards away broad side on (size of a Transit, lol) and he couldnt pull the trigger. The guy was sweating and shaking proper buck fever i can tell thee :lol:

What made it worse the guys glasses fogged up he was breathing that heavy, eyes popping out his head

Those Roe in the picture look real close though :D

This is one that will be available for a fee come August

I think thats not a bad some considering the chap that shoots it has to drag it to the nearest road and that the ground you shoot isnt real yours but is on the local deer reserve . :p or coal board land :diablo: ps vimmy do i get my money back or is scotish money ok for you to take :icon_eek::icon_eek:
