DEKAW 85
My lurcher dog has caught his first bunny this morning He started to retreive then stopped and looked at me as though he is thinking"Ive done all the hard work you come and get it off me" He is 11 month old 1/2 Grey 1/4 Deer 1/8 Saluki 1/8 Whippet. Any advice on how to bring it back to hand would be appriciated. P.S When i through the dummy for him he brings it back with no problems. Quote Link to post
macker 5
skin the rabbit and use it for a dummy. otherwise never walk towards the the dog i find slowly walking away giving lots of praise works wonders. hopefully the dog was just enjoying the moment and will improve on the next one best of luck with her nothing like seing the first catch all the best macker Quote Link to post

Guest rattingaddict
try turning your back on him and walk slowly away giving him praise crouching down often does the trick, they think there missing something Quote Link to post
Guest martyn
Try this, tip from a field trials champion trainer (not me!!) when the dof is coming towards you dont look at the dog and look directly down at your feet... the dog will come in right under you to see your face, has worked for me on a few problem dogs...
