Guest Gregg Barrow
http://www.proplan.com/sportingdog/article...management.aspx http://www.proplan.com/sportingdog/article...lenishment.aspx Two articles covering the same material. I used Dr Reynolds suggested 1.5 grams of maltodextrin per kilogram of body weight within thirty minutes of a strenuous workout or hunting, last year and the recovery rate was impressive. The articles (it’s been a awhile since I’ve read them) most likely markets the Purina energy bars that the company produces. It’s just as effective, and cheaper, if you purchase the maltodextrin from a brewers supply house and add it to baited water after a hunt. If you feed raw, it can be added to some of your mince. Eggy 0
I've heard a little bit of MARS BAR does the trick a couple of the fellas on the shoot were i beat give there dogs mars bar before we start in the morning. Chocolate contains theobromine, which is very toxic for dogs. A bit of chocolate probably only gives them an irretable bowel, but who would want to give 'em the squirts just before running? I give em a small light snack before (eg a bit of salt-free stock), and a good meal when the've settled at home (>1hr after excersize) Cheers Eggy Edited August 21, 2006 by Eggy Quote Link to post
