Hollie 21
No idea....................surely when you buy dog food it calculates the protien levels from EVERY ingredient therefor making it higher?? If you feed rabbit ALONGSIDE another food, whether it be chicken/beef etc or dry mixer then you will get the higher protien levels your dog requires?

poacher3161 1,766
I think that most rabbit in procesed dog food will come from farmed rabbits thus the fat content will be higher than wild rabbit imho i wouldent think a diet of just wild rabbit would be in the dogs best intrest. But its only my opinion as i have never fed just rabbit and nothing else to my dogs.atvb dell

Guest lurchers&terriers
why is everyone obsessed by protein???? yea its important but come on there are other things that a dog needs for a complete nutrition. some people by the way they talk would feed pure f*****g protein and nothing else. to much protein can cause serous problems in your dog. ps. sorry im not having a go but this gets me a bit
mattydski 560
I wouldnt give too much emphasis on protein content. I feed the lurcher andGSD one meal of rabbit mince (whole carcass) or fish and one meal of beef or tripe a day. They look fantastic, coat condition is out of this world.. They get a little mixer as a filler, but mainly meat. They obviously get a few veg and other bits and pieces..
Guest lurchers&terriers
In cases whereby dogs get excessive protein in their body, thay are excreted in the dog’s urine and it was research and believe that excessive protein content might also be one of the cause for damaging a dog’s kidney. It is also known that damaged kidneys have difficulty processing protein. It was also believe that excessive protein cause dogs to show more aggression because too much protein provide too much energy for dogs to handle effectively. Although it is not the food that makes the dog aggressive, it might be that the already aggressive nature dog is affected by a high protein diet and need space to release them. It is certain that some dogs that show certain type of aggressive behavior can be tame by feeding a lower protein content diet. i copy this, also if you feed your dog high protein and don't exercise the guts out of them your going to get problems
