doris 6
If your dogs blood sugar goes low whilst working then its time to pack it in for the day/night. Whatever you give it will only boost the energy levels for a very short time. You try it mate. Graft until you cant stand up then have a mars bar. Give it 5 minutes then try to do the same graft again. the boost should be able to get your dog home where it can be treated and fed and watered the correct Electrolite solutions. atb stabba well said!! bullmastiff 615
Dissolved sugar in warm milk for Shock etc just to get them back if the dog has collapsed. An idea I got from this site was to give the dogs a 1/2 pint carton of custard during Lunchtime when beating. It has the gluecose in it for instant energy but also contains proteins for longer lasting results. Easy to keep in the car, easy to feed and is a good pick me up whilst the dog is resting through lunchtime. I always used to just give them a mars bar at lunch but have now swapped. sandymere 8,263
Something with a mixture of sugers and fat will release energy a little more gradualy than glucose drinks, ie energy bars and I expect "custard" and so reduce the sudden high and resulting drop in blood glucose that leaves the dog, or yourself feelin drained. The fat slows digestion.
