Hi all,

New to the forum so I thought I'd introduce myself. I’m almost 30, I've kept whippets for years and I’ve got quite a pack now but I’ve not worked any of them as such.

To date I've simply enjoyed running them through the extensive fields up the mountains or through the woods. Just love to see them run to be honest it’s a fantastic display although I’ve come across the odd rabbit, fox or squirrel on my rambles (more by accident to be honest) and seeing my dogs on the chase is just a fantastic thrill, even though all they've never caught anything.

I've recently provided a new home an experienced lurcher and another younger whippet but they're keen rabbiters and they've both been worked on the lamp by their old owner with great success so I’m thinking this is something I'd really like to get into.

I’m spending more and more time out and about with the hounds and I’m just loving being out with them (away from people and cars and noise) but I don’t have much of a clue about hunting sadly.

I used to shoot a lot in my younger days, from various air rifles as a kid to small calibre rifles mostly .22's and even some 5.56 (L-98 and SA-80's) but I've not shot for years unfortunately.

So just brushing up the laws, gonna mooch around the forum, look for some advice, see if there’s anyone in the area that’s into rabbiting and lamping with sight hounds etc. Not sure where to start but I guess reading up is as good a place as any.

Anyway nice to meet you all

Cheers guys, yeah the sites looking awesome, I'm finding lots of good info just reading through the old threads.

Im on the far east side of Caerphilly mate so I've got Van, Rudry etc right on my door step, acres of fields and woodland to play with but I can travel if needs be.

Yeah the holes get everywhere these days, but I aint the kinda guy to take no messing if ya know what I mean ;)

My partners more into the dog showing side of things but I cant stand that lot, bunch of stuck up sons of b****s imo!

Just from reading the threads, people on here seem much more down to earth like me so thats a good start
