tullfan 0 Posted August 13, 2009 Report Share Posted August 13, 2009 if you dont want to buy stuff a cheaper method (after scraping) is soak in something high in tannin , hence the name tanning for a couple of days such as strong tea,in the autumn you can use oak leaves which along with the bark has traditionally been used for centuries. Then use borax or salt if using salt use salt peter or allum mixed into a paste with a little water and bran flakes Quote Link to post
