Guest MOLLY
Be carefull this fear does not turn into fear based aggression when he fully matures. Millet has a dog like yours, came to him from a bad home and was totally paranoid of everyone around him, has not affected his work or life within the family (lovely dog) but he will not tolerate strangers, people jogging, wearing hats, being aggressive etc etc. You need a firm strong hand to control a dog like this. Get him properly and gently socialised now before its too late. MOLL. Quote Link to post
Guest barn
thanks for that, i have been socialising him with people and dogs he plays fine with other dogs but when someone walks over to them he is the one that crouches down as if he has done something wrong. dont get me wrong when he does something right he is praised and he seems to enjoy a stroke or a pat but as yous both mention he is also different around other people Quote Link to post

MOLL. the black dog in the pic i posted last week is exactly the same as molly described, strangers, pushbikes ,strange dogs, joggers freaks him out and he starts nervously growling, if you gently tug on his lead he goes nuts, screaming and trying to slip his lead, when he gets like this you can see in his eyes that he's petrified of me,(got him at 6months and he'd had a bad start in life) when he's at home he's the perfect dog, brill with me and all the family and all the other dogs, even lets the whippet pup eat out of same dish, very soft and gentle,in the field he gives 100% on whatever he's behind...my advise is socialize him at every opportunity with strangers, kids other dogs, and he might get better Quote Link to post
