jamie g 17
zeiss kicks ass. superb optics on the conquest. good price compared to the 1000 pound scopes and the fact its 25 mm tube means it saves alot of weight Quote Link to post
hw100sniper 2
Are the Mtc and Nikko Sterling scopes any good for 17 hmr and centrefire. Which is best of 2 everyones opinion welcome. Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
I've got a faulty MTC, adjustments aren't right. Equally it's good glass. Against a Nighteater, probably pretty close but I'd give the edge to MTC. Against Nikko Diamond, I'd have the Nikko. Quote Link to post
jamie g 17
best scope for around 300 pound secondhand is the bushnell 6x24x50 elite tactial with side px Quote Link to post
hw100sniper 2
Cheers Mr Logic I have actually tried an Mtc on my mates 17hmr and upto about 150 yds seems ok clearness wise (not tried beyond that) however hes only had it 2 weeks and wasnt sure whether they were more for airrifles .Im not 100% happy with my simmons 6.5-20x44 scope and was thinking of a change soon.(just researching while on hols and got some spare time) thx in advance Billy. bobndog 0
It's really a matter of taste, some happily use 6x others use the whole range. There is no all purpose scope, although a variable comes as close as you will get. I would say buy the best that you can afford, a Zeiss will give you another 20 mins of shooting at dusk. The other thing that I would say is to buy a variable, even if you do use it at one setting, it's a cheaper option than buying a range of magnifications trying to find one that suits you. I use a Zeiss 3-12 x 56 Diavari T* on my 223, it's set at 8x for most uses, and 12x for long range crows and magpies. The other point to consider is that the higher your magnification, the sooner you will have to stop shooting at dusk, with a variable, just wind the power down and carry on. Quote Link to post
