A good dogging mate of mine suffered a terrible crush injury to his foot in the stoneyard 18 months ago and has been off work since, the accident was due to the hydraulics failing on a mechanical grab that was moving a piece of stone 6ft x 4ft x 8" thick. The piece of stone fell out of the grab and smashed Stevie's foot, luckily the floor was 6" thick in stone chippings, so his foot had somewhere to go and the stone only broke all the bones across his foot and all his toes instead of just smashing his foot straight off, lucky eh!

 

Obviously the stoneyard have admitted full liability as the machine had been reported as faulty weeks previously, but anyone who has worked in the yards and I have, will tell you when you're on yardage, you put up with things you normally wouldn't.

 

Anyway his solicitor rang him on Monday and said he needed him to come in as he had been sent two half hour videos from the insurance company and he wanted Stevie to see them.

 

So today he went and watched them and some c**t has been following us around filming us for f*****g ages one video shows us pigeon shooting this year on an organic market garden in the next village, which is testament to the blokes camera skills as he's got me knocking a few out of the sky in succession, which is difficult coz I'm not the best with birds at all. Any that fall to my gun are normally suffering from the same eyesight problems as Stevie Wonder.

 

On the other film he's got us bolting a pair of foxes in December from an earth that's in the middle of a big open field by a large wood, very rarely do you dig this earth, they nearly always bolt, anyway they both bolted inside five minutes of each other and I've dropped them both with the 12, full permission and everything, pheasants on the land, job lot.

 

When he rang me he was laughing his head off, his exact words were, "It's better than any of that Warrener shite"

 

I can't believe the extent some of these people will go to, the lad suffered a very serious and genuine accident and clearly struggles with his foot, it's still touch and go whether or not he loses his toes and as a result of the accident he suffers from reflex dystrophy, which means he can lose control of his legs at any time and it can last a couple of days, first time it happened they rushed him in and thought he was paralysed.

 

There's sponging c**ts that won't work all over the place and this lad is getting this sort of hassle, it beggars belief, he'd be back at work tomorrow if he could, but obviously can't and apart from being stuck around the house all the time, just waits for my shifts to finish so he can get out for a bit of a break and a relaxer.

 

Anyway the solicitor says he can have a copy, so we're going to see abouty getting them onto DVD, they're only short clips in a film that mainly shows him hobbling to the shop and back, and us walking across fields but he says the clips are fantastic.

 

And no we never noticed anyone following us around, but obviously you don't look for it do you, especially when everything you are doing is above board and legal.

 

I suppose the only way to look at it is they must be going to offer him a decent sum if they're spending money on private dicks to trot around Yorkshire after us.

Well, if you cantr clearly tell its your mate maybe due to camera being to far away from you, or blurred picture, then whats it proving?

 

Also whats proving that the video was taken when they say it was? Anybody could fiddle about and put a fake date & time on a video.

 

And theres the fact that your mate was just exercising his foot lightly

 

I'm sure if you have a good solicitor, he/she will find a nice little loophole that can clear your mate

Mate the solicitor said exactly that, it's nothing to worry about, he's obviously lame in both films and he's under two specialists which are both on his side, Stevie says it's as clear as daylight that it's us on film, must have been using good gear, telephoto lenses etc.

 

He isn't concerned by it at all, it's just annoying that there's so many spongers about screwing the system and they're wasting their time on a genuine case.

To an extent, yes, but insurance companies use professional PI's who will have been given your mates details etc and will have many years exp. in this sort of thing.

I'd feel pretty uncomfortable if I thought there was someone following and filming me, but it's these techniques that ensure that the real insurance blaggers get caught. The fact that it was a major injury and the insurers went to this extent probably means he's elligible for a big hefty payout and they just wanted to make sure before any cheques were signed.
