rabbit shooting

hi guys just recently got a small piece of permission for rabbit shooting, there area few there but as im only using a a sub 12lbs rifle i want to be getting fairly close which is pretty difficult as it an open field, what do you guys recomend, do you use hides ect what do you guys find the most effective methods for rabbit shooting

Hi, Adam.

 

If it's an open field with no cover, then maybe a permanent hide or two could well be the way to go.

 

Go and have a look where the rabbits like to go. Don't take your gun, just stay back and watch. That'll give you a good idea of where's best to place your hides.

 

Once you've built them, try to avoid the temptation to shoot for a few days, let the rabbits get used to them.

if there is any broken trees branches or any thing that is natural lying around start your main structure with this and camoflage with any broken branches of near by trees.

 

this is only my opinion tho

 

obviously try keep your cloths nutral

If you don't mind the dark you could go out & Lamp them, normaly works even though the grass is wet & there not feeding as they should, but we can't help the bad weather.
