going to walney island by barrow for a chill .whats it like round there for a bit of beach casting? the fish dont glow in the dark do they ?

its not bad for bass at the minute, if you head for the south end light house you should hook a few.

Worked on the Nature reserve on Walney six yrs back for a few weeks, Bass galore around there mate.

careful the walneyites are a dangerous breed. spent a lot of my childhood on the farm at the southend. its good for bass all around there, if you get a chance hop over to piel you can walk it at low tide its not a bad day over there plus loads of fishermen to give you a few hints.

went to southend caravan park on walney ,did,nt do any fishing but saw three seals as the tide was going out. locals were,nt that bad might go back in a couple of months. thanks for the replies

i know the caravan park, i remember them building it. more known for pigs back in them days......fond memories ,,,,,erm not of pigs specifically, but the farm in general

i wouldnt try walking around there with a lurcher, my mate was out todat on boat , he got a few, biggest was 6lb

south end has the gulleries, bird sanctuary, the north end has a nature reserve and an airfield, plenty of farm land on the island. the farm at south end used to be teeming with rabbits when i was a kid, i would think its pretty much the same, but no doubt the caravan park has changed things on the farm, its been years since ive been down there.

baz got back today told fishing was,nt good round there( liars) was thinking of taking lurcher up is it such a bad idea (just for walks of course) :whistle:

there is plenty of fish gettin court around there.... there a bit clicky folk round there.... and if your lurcher is brindle and you look like me stay well clear..... no seriously if you walk a lurcher round south end they,ll be on you like a rash... north end is ok.... but you wont see out with long ears
