new to pcp's

If the quick fill adaptor for a pcp is broken can you still fill it with a styrrup pump? basically what i mean is, is that adaptor only for when your charging off a bottle? any help/ advise would be much appreciated.

 

p.s. i am getting the gun saturday and the adaptor next week but i wanted to get out with it for a few hour sat/sun and i can borrow the neighbours pump until then if its still possible to fill it that way?

The pump is to some extent neither here nor there, you can put a quickfill adapter on a pump, what you need to do is make sure he has a conventional fitting and then simply take off your quickfill adapter, and if the guns are the same it will fit!

ok mate thankyou. just been onto guns international at barnsley and the adaptor is £12.50 she also said its better to keep filling the gun with the bottle as a pump doesnt sort out the condensation and can play havoc wth the internals (the valve will be up and down like a fiddlers elbow, where as off the bottle it will shut off when full)????

 

like i said mate new to pcp's so i'm not clued up

so does that mean that filling a gun with a stirrup pump is detremental to it?

yes it is..........long term

 

best to get a pump with a drypac filter, which filters the air and removes most of the condensation.

oh i see, so if you have a pump with said filter its fine?

 

and money wise which is cheap: pump or dive bottle because i am still looking seriously into pcp because i enjoy the spot on recoiless accuracy of my ratty so much

so is it just the convenience and lack of effort requred that makes people get the dive bottles? and how long would it take to pump something like a aas200? (im not a weed lol)

It's dirt, dust and damp you potentially have an issue with on pumps, plus of course the effort. Bottled air should be clean and dry and gun filling is much quicker and easier. But you need to buy the bottle, pay for your 5 year checks and then go and get that filled when the pressure drops.

 

Balancing act between convenience and price, you pays your money and takes your choice........bottle for me every time though!!
