Matt2085 0
How do you approach a piece of land? I've been wondering how I would go about approaching different terrains to hunt for different species.. and guess this could be an interesting topic, so please feel free to share! Thanks, Matt Quote Link to post
Guest air gunner
for rabbits on flat terrain i would stand a far distance of and check for any rabbits. once spotted all of them find the most cover you can and slowly walk with light feet towards them. take cover such as trees and make sure you are not in the rabbits line of sight. remember they look out the sides of their heads becasue they are not predators. just do this untill there is no cover and get on your front and get within range take your time. davyt63 1,845
hi just a few lines of my last post which was a new permission and how we went about it, hope this helps So of we set Saturday afternoon and got their about 5ish, I had a chat with the two neighbours who live adjacent to the paddock and explained who we were and what we was up to. And they were very grateful that we introduced ourselves to them as to cause no worries if they see different vehicles at different times. That went down really well then we met the couple who owns the horses had a chat with them and they were fine Then we went and spent some time with the horses for them to get use to use, and then had a recky around the paddock then sat in the car four a couple of hours and watched there movements where they were coming from and going to. Whilst we were having our recky we paced out a few likely spots which we were told about. And knew were our hold over and hold under would take us to. After all this prepwork we decided to get the two AAS410.22 out, and have a look round as they were starting to come out. happy hunting davy Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
I like to take the dogs for a walk around a new bit of land in the afternoon, they miss nothing, you can see which way the sun is shining, so if you go for an evening stroll you can have the sun behind you, I look for feeding patches, droppings, foot prints ect, the more you walk it, the more you'll learn Quote Link to post
