Buch 145
Hi lost a chicken the other day and i was wondering who in your opinions it could be? Basical my mum was washing up in the kitchen with the door open and the 3 dogs inside. Heard a squak and went outside to find a pile of feathers and no chicken. Had a look around and a mooch about with the dogs but nothing to be seen or heard. Later on when she went to shut the hens away found the hen that had been got had managed to escape and find its way back to the hen house minus most of its guts but was still alive if not kicking. It had been disembowled and had a totaly crushed ribcage but it managed to escape? I just emidiatly thought young fox but some one down the road tried to tell my dad of a pack of mink (yes a pack) savaging all his before he could get outside to stop them. I couldnt see it to be honest as theres no big waterways about me but im not gona call the bloke a liar. Does this sound like a mink or a fox or something else? And do mink hunt in packs? Thanks Quote Link to post
fireman 11,581
How big were the teeth marks in it?,mink won't hunt in packs as it were but will in family groups.Don't rule out a cat either, just have to keep your eyes and ears open for the culprit. Quote Link to post

Guest foxyjo.
NO rat will crush a ribcage! I think it's probably a young fox, played with it a bit, then got bored maybe? But my vote would be on a fox. Quote Link to post
