villebones 4
Right then. I have a 9 month lurcher. He is brilliant at most things and generally well behaved. He gets the run on the house during the day while someone is at home. He gets nice long walks everyday. However the problem is Once its time for bed he is shut in the living room. We have done this since we got him. At first he whined and we ignored him. Then after his first month of walks he settled down. But then he started doing it again and we havent been able to stop it. This is my first lurcher and i desperately want too work him. But if i dont manage to stop him whining im afraid my mum says he wil have too go. I have put alot of work into training him and have given up hanging out with friends too train him and walk him. Soo please if anyone can help Please Do. sandymere 8,263
It's always easier to tell than do but, get a squeezy bootle fill with water then soon as it whines go straight down and give a face full, then repeat as many times as necs, you need to go straight down every time! You'll need to explain to your mum that it may take a few sleepless nights but once the pup gets the idea that the only attention it's whining gets is a facefill of water it will stop whining. When you go down in the morning don't make a fuss, thats all the family, but ignore it for a few mins, then put it out to empty, this will help to reduce the excitment of people coming down. Do the same when it's been left during the day again ignore for a couple of mins till it's settled a little. The only time you want excitment is when you recall it on walks etc then you want big fuss/excitment.. Good luck s.
