best ear protection

Recommended Posts

i am currently applying for my sgc and i was wondering what is the best type of ear protection for hunting and a few clays.

i cant really get on with the over ear muff style things as i find them bulky and annoying on the cheek when shooting

so i dont really know what my other options are and i have quite small ear canals with regards to in-ear devices

thanks in advance

there are all sorts of different types of push in ear defenders available the ones that are made custom are very good not sure where you can go to do it but look out for them at game fairs as they will do it and you can pick it up later once there set. there are also ones that you squeeze push in and they expand and mould into your ears these are very good and very cheap. so i would say look out for one of these types. hope this helps.

It really comes down to two questions

1) Is money more important than your future hearing?

2) Is your hearing more important than money?

If its No 1 get some cheap ear inserts - your favourite word to say in the future will be "Pardon?"

If its No 2 get bins that cover your ear and the all important bone just behind your ear - that way the only problem you will have in the future is having to repeat yourself to your mates who used the 'in the ear' efforts.

If you doubt me - answer this question - how many Olympic standard clay shooters use ear inserts?

If they knock against the stock - then probably your gun mount and facial position is wrong.

The answer to the Olympic question is none - now you know. lol
