arcticgun 4,548
Had my first lurcher accident whilst out bushing on friday night with my two lurchers and the terrier my beddy x grey pup was waiting for a rabbit to break cover from a bush the terrier was working, once the rabbit broke cover she launched herself full tilt at it with 110% commitment, the only problem was that muggins here was stood in her way , she ran full tilt into my kneecap, sending me arse over tit, she proper laid me flat out, I sort of remember seeing her spin across the floor and thinking she will break something for sure, the next thing I remember is her limping over and licking my face, before quickly buggering off to catch up with my saluki x who had caught the bloody rabbit, leaving me on the deck in absolute agony!!! whilst they played tug of war . After about 15mins I was able to get back up and walk home with them, my wife took great pleasure in laughing her arse off at me and telling our friends who where over all about it later that night I ended up down the hospital saturday morning for pain killer injection and xrays, luckily no fracture or ligament damage, got some pain killers anti inflamatiories from the doc. The dog is fine no limp or marks on her thank god, she even had the cheek to want walking yesterday, however I had a rare day off, so she made do with wrecking yet another pair of the wifes slippers atvb Richard Quote Link to post

fireman 11,599
I've had a couple like that,a good few years back i was lamping a big ear and went to trip it with my foot and hit the dog instead,we both went flying and when we'd picked ourselves up the dog went the few yards to the hedge and picked up the hare that had run itself into a tree and killed itself,i have allways thought if i hadn't have tripped the dog she would have done the same.Another time was at a coursing meet near Evesham and i was there with a pal and his very pregnant girlfriend and a few times the hare took the dogs through the crowd,we kept telling her to mind out for them and that they would hurt her if they hit her.Well one big irish bred dog came through the crowd and i saw it at the last second and just manged to turn so it hit the back of my legs and it put me 4 ft in the air and i landed on my back all to the delight of the crowd. The dog got up and continude the course and managed to catch it's hare,i was still laid out winded.
