Sauer 202 Synthetic

Recommended Posts

Anyone have any experiance with this rifle? Just interested in any pro, cons & views or suggestions of alternative in the same price bracket. Use would be for stalking.

Cheers :victory:

Have always liked Sauer and when choosing a rifle for stalking a few years ago found (for the money I was prepared to spend) it difficult to choose between a Sauer and a Blaser - ended up with the Blaser for no other reason than the straight pull.

A friend of mine in the gun trade to whom I recently spoke to has suggested that the present build quality of the Sauer is no longer as good as it was, he thought that pound for pound the Sako was now the up and coming rifle - just his opinion - I dont have an opinion cos I just dont know

Cheers Peter,

I'm considering getting a second hand one at the moment. I want to stay with a 6.5 but switch to a rifle with a composite stock. A new model is out of my price range but i was debating whether a good condition second hand Sauer (anout £750) would be a better bet than a new gun in the same price range?

well i have one (surprise with my forum name! )

Sauer202 synthetic in .25-06 with a pez12 sound mod .

bloody love it. fine weight and handling.

ability to "take down" rifle and clean the "throat" etc.

cons.....

lack of ability for future "customising /semi customising macmillian stocks etc? nope!! ....due to it being a "take down" rifle ..ie, ability to strip it down in minutes to basic component parts.

Bit of a coincidence this - me mentioning above that my friend thought the Sako was now the up and coming quality riflr - well yester a friend of a friend heard that I do a few things with bullets for te 6.5 and asked me if I could work out a load for his Sako Quad in 6.5

Must confess having done a few of these, did not take long - just to give you an idea what the quad is capable of doing, here are a couple of scans

The first scan shows from a clean rifle firing 3 shots then bought it down 4 cms but did not bring it to the right as I wanted to keep the bull area clear because of my right eye cataract

The attachments did not work so here are the links to them
