Scope height measurement, is it from the centre bore to the cross air?

I always try and take It from the center of the bore to the + on the cross hairs but your never going to get an exact measurement.

You will by doing this.

 

Barrel diameter divided by two plus scope diameter divided by two plus distance between scope and barrel.
