so if your bolting foxes to guns,is that a worker?but if it wont bolt it stays till dug?surely a working terrier. ;)

it all depends what you want your terrier to do someone going ratting will want one that works well on rats;for rabbiting one that works rabbits for foxs one thats cappable of bolting or killing a fox,for digging a steady bayer that stays till its dug to,and if you get one that do/s all these things you have a world beater.

IMO a "working terrier" is a dog that is dug to on a regular basis and a "sporting terrier" is the sort used for rats and rabbits etc...........................

that is so wrong next lurchers will be advertised as sporting lurchers if they dont take fox.

Lancer, think about it.... terriers owe their existence to earthwork, that is why we have terriers... for digging out sub-teranian quarry, they wernt bred small and game to kill fecking rats were they? Therefore, a proper working terrier is one that follows its INTENDED vocation.

You can understand why so much crap is bred, when people are breeding off dogs that they class as workers, that should be called sporting terriers. Ratting/rabbiting terriers are sporting terriers "workers" are dogs that are dug too, that find in any type and size of earth, stay with the game and dont jibb.

I have no working terriers. I have pups that have the potential to become workers in another couple of seasons or three. I have only just returned to the sport after a long lay off from them. I have owned and worked quite a few dogs that could be classed as workers, and I've also owned a few that havent made the grade that I didnt class as workers. Do you have any workers, because from the posts I've read from you I would say you have'nt got a clue.

If I had a terrier that did all those things I would be gutted. I hate it when you here of people using dogs on rabbits and foxes. If you want a fox dog, dont let it near rabbits.
